We were really pleased to see so many visitors during our Open Week.
Former pupils, staff, parents and people from the wider community came along to look at our photographic displays and memorabilia from across the 52 years that our school has been open.
There were guided tours and it was lovely to hear everyone reminiscing and sharing stories of their time in the school.
On Friday 24th June we had a beautiful Mass in the school hall. It was concelebrated by Bishop Brian McGee, Fr. Roddy McAuley and Fr. Michael MacDonald. The children took a full part in the liturgy, and the singing was very special.
That evening we held a Grand Ceilidh, and what an excellent night we had – singing, dancing, musical instruments, pipe band and refreshments!
We will be very sad to see our school close on 21st September, but we are looking forward to moving into our new school – St. Columba’s RC Primary School.
This is the last verse of our School Poem – Golden Years at Lochyside:
“So many fond memories, of lessons learned and friendships made across 52 years,
From children, staff, parents, parish community and peers;
But now we must look forward to 21st September when we move to Caol,
And Lochyside Primary will open anew, as St. Columba’s RC School.”
