FAREWELL TO HMS GANNET
On 14th January we all went outside our school to wave goodbye to HMS Gannet – the Royal Navy Search and Rescue helicopter.
For 44 years the crews of HMS Gannet have been carrying out rescues across Scotland, and many of these rescues were in and around Ben Nevis and the Lochaber hills.
The Sea King helicopter, along with another two helicopters, did a
farewell fly-past at 11.40am.
It was a beautiful clear morning, with blue skies and thick white snow on the hills.
All children and staff waved their hands in the air as the helicopters flew over our school.
It was a very special moment, and a fitting tribute to the helicopter crews.
